Doing Some Thinking
The title and the intro line are correct. I will be taking a break from this blog.
Running this blog has been an awesome experience and helped me develop my writing and grow as a person in many ways. I even have this blog to thank for helping me land my job.
However, a crossroads has appeared before me.
Recently, I find my writing time to be far too awkwardly split between my longer projects and my weekly posts.
There are days where I feel driven to write but need to get going on a blog post, and there are days where I’m ready to write a blog post but realize my projects have been left unattended.
In the midst of these concerns, I have been thinking of the best way to grow my audience.
I have come to realize that I have reached my maximum potential growth if I continue doing things as I have done them.
The Probable Next Step
In my first blog post for 2020, I discussed the idea of starting a YouTube channel. That idea has become more appealing to me.
People want things to watch and listen to. Videos appear far more to our audiovisual culture than blogs do.
For myself, I must admit my own habits on the internet have shifted towards video. The amount of time I spend on YouTube dwarfs my time on any other website.
Writing will always be my passion. Books will always be my favorite way to express that passion.
However, when it comes to reaching out to people, it has become clear that video will be the best format for my content.
All that being said, I still value having my own website, my own space to shape as I wish. Therefore, cKotch.Com will remain, though I am still considering how best to use it going forward.
No matter what that future plan may be, I currently plan to keep all posts and portfolio entries available here.
This site represents one of my biggest steps forward as a writer. I wish to carry it with me in some way wherever this next step leads.
Signing Off for Now
I really must thank you for joining in on this ride so far.
My break from blogging here will not be an end to that ride. Merely, it is a break to examine things and get going on the best path forward.
I’m still putting plenty of research into running a YouTube channel to ensure I start with my best foot forward. I don’t when I’ll feel this work’s been sufficient, but you’ll know when that first video goes live.
When that time comes, I hope to deliver something truly special.
